Who cares what Fox News says?

It seems nearly every day a new clip of a show on one of Fox’s News channels will circulate the Web, followed by comments of ridicule and disgust. Sure, the things many Fox News pundits say are pretty gross. The problem is, these are opinion shows. It doesn’t make sense to complain about them putting a slant on a topic.

It’d be like someone reading the editorial page of a newspaper and saying, “I can’t believe the New York Times thinks gas prices aren’t high enough!” These columnists don’t speak for the publication (unless it involves the endorsement of a Presidential candidate (don’t get me started)).

The problem with these news stations is there’s no clear indication that what viewers are seeing is an opinion show. There’s no schedule that says “8am-10am NEWS, 10am-12pm Some guy giving his opinions.”

That aspect needs to be communicated more clearly.

P.S. The only quasi-news cast that Fox seems to offer is the 7pm FOX Report. It “…rips through the day’s top stories at the “speed of live!”“

I think I’ll skip that, thanks.
