Comcast sucks… again.

I canceled my cable service with Comcast over two months ago and was told I’d be receiving a rebate check in the mail, as service was canceled half-way through the month.

I was lazy and didn’t actually return my cable modem to a Comcast station until last week (mostly because the building is on the other side of the city and usually guarantees 2 hours of annoying traffic). When I did return it, they confirmed I had no outstanding balance and that I would be receiving a rebate check at my new address.

Yesterday, I received a mysterious voicemail from “Unknown,” saying “This is [name], representing Com[garbled] communications. Please call us at the number at the bottom of your statement for an important message.” Well, considering I hadn’t received any kind of statement from any communications company in over two months, I figured it was some telemarketing trick.

Just now, I received a call from the same company, claiming I owed Comcast $122. I told them that according to a real live Comcast representative, everything was fine. They answer, “well, you’d better call them and figure this out.”

Uh, no. That’s shouldn’t be my responsibility. If I was told by Comcast that I don’t owe them anything, it’s not my fault that your records are inaccurate. It’s not my job to sit on hold for an hour to have Comcast tell me something I already know.

Grrr.
